Start off with lunch at The Beer Spot [A] in Huapai. Find out why they were a prizewinner in the 2019 North West Business Awards. With a different Food Truck each week there’s always an interesting lunch-time snack available to go with 40 beers, plus local wines as well. Open seven days from 12pm.
Now you have whetted your appetite, head on up to Helensville to visit award-winning Liberty Brewing’s taproom [B]. Arguably one of the country’s best brewers famous for their whiskey barrel-aged Prohibition Porter, you can sip some of their fine beers in their unassuming taproom hidden in Helensville.
Time for an early dinner. Head back south on State Highway 16, take the turnoff to Riverhead and chill out at Hallertau Brewery & Biergarten [C]. You can get a tasting paddle or dive in and try one of their limited edition hand-crafted seasonal brews along with a mouthwatering selection of woodfired pizzas, sharing plates or wood-grilled menu.
