Enjoy Our Best Wineries
Auckland North West is the home of some of our best vineyards.
Start with a champagne breakfast at Soljans Estate Winery [A], established in 1932 this proudly family-run vineyard is positioned at the gateway to the North West. After breakfast head to the cellar door to have a tasting or, if there’s a group of you, how about booking a tour, more likely then not the tour will be taken by Tony or Tyler Soljan.
Traveling north along State Highway 16 the next vineyard can’t be missed. Right on the doorstep of the town Kumeu River, [B] owned and operated by the Brajkovich Family it sits facing a hillside of grapevines.
“Attention to detail in the vineyard and thoughtful winemaking has produced consistent top-end chardonnay’s” according to Bob Campbell.
The cellar door is open Monday – Friday 10am to 4:30pm, Saturday 11am to 4:30pm and closed Sunday.
Driving through Kumeū and Huapai to will come to Coopers Creek, [C] rated one of the top New Zealand wines of 2019 the cellar door offers tastings and sales seven days a week. During the summer there are jazz concerts on a Sunday.
After visiting Coopers Creek double back towards Huapai turning left onto Oraha Road and head through Riverhead Forest on Old North Road to the turn off to Westbrook Winery [D] on Ararimu Valley Road in Waimauku. There are a number of cellar door experiences to choose from including wine and cheese tastings.
Finally, travel back along Old North Road to The Hunting Lodge, [D] one of the areas newest vineyards. Set amongst the vines you can experience a wine tasting and dinner at their lawn bar or Restaurant.
